Greenwich Police say they were dispatched to the area of 286 Delavan Avenue on a report of a vehicle in the roadway that was facing the wrong way around 8 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Doris Peet, 77, of Port Chester, was confused and unaware of what town she was actually in, according to police.

Officers say Peet admitted to being involved in a motor vehicle accident before police arrived.

Peet was then asked to participate in a series of field sobriety tests, which police say she did not pass.

Peet was arrested, processed and charged with the following:

  • Evading responsibility
  • Illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs
  • Failure to drive on the right

Peet was released after posting a $50 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Friday, August 9.
